Prevent Slips Before They Happen

A Simple Upgrade That Makes Every Climb Safer

Ladders are often used in places where access is essential but footing is easily overlooked. Smooth metal rungs, frequent use and demanding working conditions can all reduce confidence when climbing.

SlipsAway® GRP ladder rung covers add a tough, textured surface directly to existing rungs, creating a more secure point of contact without replacing the complete ladder. Each cover is designed to follow the rung profile closely, giving a neat, professional finish with minimal disruption.

Available for both round and square rungs, they can be supplied in different colours, sizes and visibility options to suit the location.

Some of our recent reviews

Roofing crew, so we're on ladders in all kinds of weather. These covers actually stay put and give real traction even when the rungs are damp. Worth it just for the peace of mind.

Took about 10 minutes to fit these on our warehouse ladders. Grip is way better and safer than bare aluminum rungs. Ordered a few more for our other sites.
Arthur Finch

Bought these for my father who still insists on doing his own gutter work at 68. He's stubborn about safety gear but even he admitted the extra grip made him feel steadier. So I guess that's a win in my book.

A gray metal ladder with textured yellow hand grips positioned against the exterior wall of a house under an overcast sky.
Work maintenance for an apartment complex, on ladders daily. Slipped once years back and ended up admitted for weeks. in the hospital. These covers give me way more confidence as a precaution when going up and down.

  • Yes. SlipsAway® rung covers can be supplied for round, square and rectangular ladder rungs, with standard and bespoke sizes available.

  • No. The cover fits over the top and part of the sides, while the underside of the original metal rung remains open and visible.

  • Yes. GRP is resistant to moisture, corrosion, weather exposure and regular wear, making the covers suitable for indoor and outdoor ladders.

  • Yes. Bespoke sizes can be produced for unusual rung widths, diameters or ladder profiles. Providing rung measurements and photographs will help confirm the correct option.

  • Fine grit provides a lighter texture for lower-risk areas and more regular footwear contact.

Medium grit offers a good balance of comfort and dependable traction for most everyday ladder applications.

Coarse grit provides stronger grip for industrial, wet or demanding environments.

Ultra-coarse grit is designed for specialist areas where maximum traction is required.

The best option depends on the ladder location, footwear, frequency of use and level of slip risk.

  • Installation is generally straightforward:

    1. Measure the rung and cut the cover to the required length.
    2. Clean and dry the metal surface to remove dirt, grease, rust and loose material.
    3. Test-fit the cover to confirm the correct shape and position.
    4. Apply a suitable structural adhesive evenly to the rung or inside the cover.
    5. Press the cover firmly into place, ensuring it sits securely over the top and sides while the underside remains open.
    6. Use tape or temporary clamps to hold it in position while the adhesive cures.
    7. Allow the full recommended curing time before using the ladder.
  • Measure the rung’s profile, diameter or width, and usable length. For the best fit, provide clear measurements and photos of the ladder, especially for square, rectangular or non-standard rungs.
